🙏 ❤️ Why Overflow with Thanks-Giving
Giving thanks becomes a way of experiencing the gift of life that has no comparison.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
Dear Why Team member,
I hope this week’s message finds you excited to celebrate Thanksgiving with family and friends.
It should come to as no surprise to you, if you know me a little, or know me a lot, that Thanksgiving is the holiday I appreciate most and, that I appreciate it taking place before Christmas. Why? Because it gives us the opportunity to give and receive – non-materially before the material.
Undoubtedly, it is THE Holiday for the Why Team.
Nothing fuels more a life of abundance, for ourselves and for others, than being aware of our own abundance. We are all rich beyond belief, so if we are not feeling rich, we need only go beyond our current belief. Any thought that “we lack” is especially a thought to question.
Ben Stein once said there is only one get rich quick scheme: Gratitude!
If you are going through a tough time right now, feeling as if the sun is not shining on your street, I have found it very helpful to be more present during these times and seek out all the more that in which to be grateful.
Consider the wisdom from Poet David Whyte that a heart being broken is our identity being enlarged. During some very tough times in my life it has taken extra effort to be grateful. Life has many ups and downs and changes that never end, yet notice how those changes brought new beginnings and opportunities.
When we resist the changes that are given to us, we can increase and/or prolong our suffering. Seeing and finding the gifts in all things can at times take tremendous effort, but with patience and with time and with a desire to find the richness beyond the painful beliefs, the treasure is all the more appreciated.
Consider reflecting on the story of your life; how boring it would be without twists and turns. The Hero’s journey must have its dragons to slay and its valleys in which to persevere.
Are you thankful for all of it?
Look at you and what you have accomplished. Consider how you have cared for yourself and carried yourself through storm after storm. Gratitude for the light is best accomplished after time spent in the dark. It truly is "All Good", we need only the eyes to see and the heart to feel.
“Don't run away from your vulnerability - it is a robust form of incarnation rather than a weakness." - David Whyte.
Becoming more via hardship - an attitude like this cannot only fuel gratitude for the past, but also a courageous embracing of what the unknown future has in store for you.
When you find the courage to be grateful for what has happened, for the present and for the opportunities that come from new beginnings in each newly given moment, when the truth of enough is all around you and you feel overwhelmed to just Be, thankful for Being, and, thankful for being in the lives of those you love, giving thanks becomes a way of experiencing the gift of life that has no comparison.
Whether you have been on this Why Team journey since its creation in 2009 or joined us along the way, I am grateful
I hope you too are grateful more than ever for this Thanksgiving and my wish for you and yours is that the rich spirit of gratitude guides and inspires you throughout this entire Holiday Season.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Steve Luckenbach
